I love exploring games that I have no previous experiences with, it is like a loot filled chest with everything you always wanted or something you never knew you always wanted, but sometimes that chest grows teeth and starts chasing you and you run away from that chest promising yourself never...
I remember me and my nephew, celebrating a winter holiday at my grandpas house, with a NES and Double Dragon rented from the local video shop. It might have been the greatest weekend of my life. And here we are, I am now a grown man with kids of my own and playing Double Dragon 4 on my...
Yakuza is a series of games that I have always had a love hate relationship towards. But with the latest release, Yakuza 0 I am leaning towards love way more than I have ever before
For nearly 30 years Civilization has plagued our gaming world, people have lost time, sleep and not to mention been frustrated, yet in love with a game so simple yet so incredible deep and time demanding it is sometimes hard to see how this game can be sold at a regular price and not a yearly...
I have always been a huge fan of the stealth-based game genre, and Dishonored was one of my favourite games the year it released. It played through it numerous times with different experiences each time and with the release of Dishonored 2 I was overexcited to once again see what this series...
The Elder Scrolls is one of my top game series of all time, as with most fans I started my love for the series with the release of Oblivion but has since then gone back and played Morrowind. So when Skyrim was announced I was beyond excited and here we are, years later and I am reviewing one of...
It is time for a new Call of Duty, love it or hate it but it is still one of the most successful franchise in gaming history and you can never take that away from them. And speaking of love and hate, there has always been those feeling whenever you speak on a new Call of Duty release as you...
I remember playing Call of Duty on Playstation 3, and how amazed I was at the visuals for this game. I remember thinking that this would be it, this would be the greatest FPS game ever created, and even though many years have passed since my brain worked like that, the Call of Duty franchise...
Whenever I am tasked with reviewing a game mainly focused on kids I turn to my own kids, hand them the controllers and just sit back and take notes. Not only what I myself see but how the experience make them feel and how easy it is for them to interact with the game. But whenever a huge...
What if you took Minecraft and the beloved Dragon Quest universe and mixed them all into one brand new experience? It would probably be the greatest game ever created right? Well, to fans of both games it might be considered that but to anyone the slightest interested in either of the two this...
As a lifelong fan of wrestling dating all the way back to the late 80s when I used to watch wrestling with my grandfather (without my mother knowing it seeing as it was seen upon as real back then) I have tried to withhold my love for the entertainment, but lately my love is slowly dying and...
It is time to return to one of the most talked about games in recent history, we are of course talking about Destiny. Now the name of the game will either bring excitement to you as soon as you hear it or it will bring frustration and annoyance, luckily for me I have always enjoyed Destiny and...

The following list is in no particular order. We couldn't decide and we didn’t want to flood you with all our different lists so we got together and just decided to put up our Top Games of 2013 and why we think you should try them out if you haven't already. And remember, there are a lot of opinions out there but these are our own, feel free to disagree.
Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
When a game can make someone who is not a fan of a certain genre hooked to a game in that certain genre you know you have created a great game and this was the case with Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. With its amazingly gripping story, soothing soundtrack and amazingly good looking graphics it simply made some of our staff that wasn't a fan of JRPGs look twice next time a game in this genre was released.
Sid Meier's Civilization V, Brave New World
Even though this is a expansion we felt it earned a spot in our top list of the year simply because of the amount of hours we have put into this expansion and what it added to the overall game which we thought couldn’t be done more perfectly than it already was, but by proving us wrong and giving us even more trouble with staying away from Civ V than we already had it certainly carved its place in games that we spent way too much time with this year and therefore a spot on our list. Sneaky.
Heroes of Loot
This little gem of a time-waster came out of nowhere. One day at the office we got a press release from the man himself who made this game and from what he wrote we thought we could check it out and see if it was good and give it some publicity as we do love to support indie developers, and hours later we still had trouble shutting the game off long enough to write our articles about the game. But since then we have done what we could to promote this game simply because it is a simple but incredible addictive time-waster in every sense of the word and if you haven’t tried Heroes of Loot yet you really, really should.
Who would have known that the game who would promote the PS4 the best at release was a game called Resogun. Every other next-gen AAA game had to take a back-seat because we couldn’t stop playing Resogun a game from the developers of Super Stardust HD and Super Stardust Delta. With its incredibly addictive gameplay and reminded gamers around the world about such a classic and addictive game as Geometry Wars was an even going way back to a beautiful gem called Defender, and that in itself is the biggest compliment a game nowadays could dream about achieving and Resogun is that game.
Saints Row IV
What can we say about SRIV that hasn’t been said before, what puns can we put in here that the game itself hasn’t used up yet, well nothing really. However, changing the game from a GTA clone to a superhero on crack was the most amazing thing this series did to itself and was just what we needed. It completely shattered everyone’s expectations and managed to carve its own path in todays open world games. And it brought back the most fundamentally ingredient there is to be found in a video game, the share fun of playing the game, and they nailed it.
Euro Truck Simulator 2
How can you take something that seems so dull and make so many people sink so much time into a game as Euro Truck Simulator 2 did? Well a lot of this was made possible because of Let's Plays on YouTube to be honest. The Simulator genre has been living and breathing for many years and this specific genre has seen some incredible horrible games throughout the last couple of years but Euro Truck Simulator 2 had just enough of something special and was the right game, released at the right time, shown off by the right people and got to the right crowd just perfectly. We take our trucker caps off to Euro Truck Simulator 2.
This is one of those games that you can play endlessly for hours upon hours and then all of the sudden get a little too cocky and forget the most simple thing and die and having to restart the entire game over again. For any gamer out there, a game like this with such a punishing game over is hard to recommend to anyone but Don't Starve seems to be the game that begs to differ. I sat for 5 hours straight and played the game only to do the one thing the game told me not to do, it was literally in the title, I managed to starve to death, cursed myself for 5 minutes, then shrugged it off and restarted the game. That my friends is the kind of games we love here at TGP.
As an old school punk I fought teeth and nail for this game to be on this list and I almost had to take out everyone in our staff to get my game mentioned but I did it and in my eyes Charlie Murder is one of the most entertaining games I played all year. The incredibly dark humour and the sketched artwork of the game mixed with this incredibly hard soundtrack just made me play the game through once solo and then invited friends to do it with me all over again. If you haven't tried it yet get some friends together and play through this game, I promise you that it will keep everyone entertained, although it is not for the weak-hearted...
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger
When we got this game for review there wasn't too many nice words thrown around regarding the previous games in the series, and therefore we weren't all that excited to try it out as we were expecting what we have been given from this franchise over these last couple of years, the same formula over and over again and again only it got worse over time, boy are we glad we were proven wrong, because not only did they switch up the entire game and turned it arcade they also added humour and a whole new game in itself. The narrative driven story is hilarious at times and the way the narrator takes you in and out of the story while repainting the scenario to keep up with his crazy story was very entertaining and therefore earned a spot on our top list of 2013.
Game Dev Tycoon
Another game that we loved to praise simply because it isn’t a AAA game but more of a indie game. Although a lot can be said about how similar this game is to another iOS game released earlier the point of the matter is still the same, having played both games we concluded with the fact that, yes it is really similar to another Game Dev game but this is a lot more forgiving in terms of progression. If you played Game Dev Story you know the developers are known for throwing a lot of unsuspecting wrenches into the machinery and this game has none of these. If you mess up it is your own fault, and the stunt they did with the pirates is enough to keep anyone on their feet. Great time-waster!
Grand Theft Auto V
Finally it released. Rockstar is one of the few companies that have learned the secret to keeping their faces frotting at the mouth with holding back information and teasing us until we make up our own headlines and stories and quite frankly do the job for them. Although some complained that GTA IV wasn't a good GTA game we have always loved the series since we first played GTA in our IT classes at school and we loved the series ever since. But with the release of GTA V even we were blown away by how large and incredible living and breathing this game was. There was a lot of issues with the release of the Online part of the game but even with that it is one of our favourite games of this year and for some of us our favourite GTA game of all time.
The Last of Us
What a incredible journey, even though some might argue that the game was nothing more than a glorified run and gun cover-based shooter we argue that these people completely missed the whole idea of the game. The story and how you could simply choose how to proceed through any mission and how the different characters was slowly introduced to the overall final plot which left all of us stunned made this no argument at all and we all knew that The Last of Us had to be on this list.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
BRAVO! This is just what the AC series needed, a completely revamped story with new characters and giving us all a break from the now overdone Assassins theme was the best move Ubisoft ever could have done. And when you get to play around with the game itself you know that they did a really good job with it too. The world seem so much alive that we found it hard to follow the story, not because it was horrible but simply because we wanted to explore every inch of the map we was dealt and some of us wanted to 100% everything. Amazing surprise and maybe the biggest surprise hit of 2013, great job Ubisoft, how about making a straight pirate game next without the AC completely.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Oh Nintendo, how you manage to take something so simple and make it so addictive we will never know, we hate you for it but we love you too much to care! Animal Crossing is one of those games where you either get it or you will never get it. There is a huge audience of gamers that laugh at people like us who still check up on our town, months after the game released, get told off by every villager, pick our fruit, catch our fish, harvest butterflies and bugs, trade them in and go spend all our money on crap for our house that we are still paying to upgrade only to log off and redo it all the next day, why? WE DON'T KNOW! Seriously, somebody tell us if they do know...
Yes Tomb Raider is another one of those games that got some hate simply because Lara started off as a completely gun noob and ended up making Marcus Fenix shiver in his boots at the end. Gamers complained this ruined the entire game for them and we do not blame them for their opinion we simply don’t see how something so minor when you really think about it can make you so angry and frustrated to completely brush of the story, the world, the music, the characters and the overall experience. We loved it and can't wait to see what else is in store for the lovely Lara Croft.
